James Woolsey

Development Coordinator

Now in his fifth year with Fresno State Athletics and seventh year working in Fresno sports, James Woolsey has established himself as a dedicated professional with a passion for supporting high-performing teams and fostering community pride. His commitment to excellence and his extensive experience in athletics have made him a trusted figure within Fresno's sports landscape.

A proud native of the San Joaquin Valley and graduate of Clovis North High School, James began his career journey with Clovis Unified School District, spending three years leading and supporting various elementary after-school athletics programs. He also worked multiple seasons for both the Fresno Grizzlies (MiLB) and Fresno FC soccer team in various roles. His passion for sports and leadership then guided him to Fresno State Athletics, where he has contributed to both the Men's Basketball and Football programs.

Wanting to stay involved with athletics as he pursued a college degree, James served as a manager for Fresno State Men's Basketball, James played a key role in player development and team scouting. He was part of the first Bulldog Basketball team in over a decade to secure a postseason tournament berth, culminating in their championship victory at The Basketball Classic.

James then transitioned to Fresno State Football, where he served as an equipment manager for the 2022 season. His hard work and attention to detail contributed to the team’s exceptional achievements, including winning the Mountain West Conference Championship and claiming victory at the LA Bowl against PAC-12 rival Washington State. His contributions earned him a promotion to Assistant to the Director of Football Operations, where he was instrumental in supporting the program's operational and logistical success.

Currently, James serves as the Development Coordinator for the Bulldog Foundation. In this role, he has his hand in various event planning, marketing, donor relations, and strategic initiatives aimed at elevating Bulldog student-athletes and advancing the Fresno State Athletics Department. In addition, you may have seen James on one of the BDF's social media platforms hosting our popular "Red Friday" videos. His extensive background in sports administration and his unwavering dedication to the Bulldogs make him a vital member of the Bulldog Foundation team.

James holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Administration from Fresno State, along with a certificate in Sports and Entertainment Facilities Management. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Kinesiology – Sport Administration, further demonstrating his commitment to professional growth and excellence.

In his free time, James enjoys playing sports, traveling, and taking day trips to the beach with his dogs. He values quality time with family and friends and actively gives back to the community through volunteer work at his church. With a deep passion for the success of the San Joaquin Valley, James is committed to making a lasting impact on the region he proudly calls home.
